I really want to take the piss on spending $200 on a pepper mill because on paper, that's so absurd. But… looks like a few people have done it here so maybe I'm the ridiculous one in this equation.

Look at it like this. You can purchase the absolute best product on the market for the job it does and that purchase will last your lifetime and last future generations. This is the modern equivalent of your grandmother's griswold cast iron pan if you were lucky enough to inherit one.

You can't boast that you own a Pepper Cannon?

I've had all types and for grinding of pepper in small quantities… you are not wrong. That being said, for large quantities at very fast pace… the cannon can't be beaten. As an example. I like to freshly crack peppercorns for my bbq and even a good quality battery operated one was not getting the job done in a reasonable amount of time. With the pepper cannon, I can produce the quantities needed in short order.
Take it or leave it… doesn't matter to any of us… can only tell you that this is a very quality product

I remember a loooong time ago, Pre-Fertitta Brenner's waiter used a small old-school box coffee grinder with the crank on top for pepper. This guy was hipster before hipster was "cool". He'd crank "to order" then pull out the drawer and sprinkle out the pepper. I thought it was a neat idea and always meant to get one, but never did.
