How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have an old Traeger. Trying to update as we just remodeled our backyard / patio etc. Brother in law bought an expensive Louisiana Grill pellet smoker. Legacy series I believe. Has a searing function too. Looking for a "1 grill" to do everything. As technology advances, I feel like we are getting closer to that unicorn. I want to sear, grill and smoke.

Does anyone have experience with these Louisiana Grill legacy smokers? Or is there a comparable that anyone has used?

I don't need a patio full of grills. Just would like the pellet; and maybe a flat-top.

Thanks

I'd highly recommend a Yoder over Louisiana. I've sold both and we dropped the Louisiana line after issues with their estate series built in. Yoder can do it all.

If you're in Houston we have them in stock - www.Creekstoneoutdoors.com

I can vouch for the Yoder. And I bought it at Sam's place.

I put in grill grates over the firebox. Works great.

I have also put two Memphis Grills pellet smokers in last two kitchens, but the outdoor kitchen in my current place had no place to put one without spending a bunch to remodel. Bought the Yoder on the competition cart....it's heavy but fairly easy to maneuver.

I will say that the Memphis has the best heat control; however, they have priced themselves out of the market and offshored all manufacturing to China.

Love my Yoder YS840. I smoked some Turkey legs today as a protest to high meat prices! It was my first time for legs although I have smoked whole turkeys a couple of times. I brined like most online recipes recommend and was surprised how well the drumsticks picked up the flavor from the brine.

Thanks for the input. I purchased the Yoder YS640S. Will pick it up in Weatherford on Saturday.
