What's your go-to food subscription service?

I've been a long-time Fish Fixe subscriber and I'm super happy with it. That's all I've had , not counting random beer or bacon gifted subscriptions over the years.

I assumed Fish Fixe was fairly standard until tried Butcherbox. Unfortunately, Butcherbox was able to charge me for 2 months before I canceled. Mostly stew meat and hamburger for $100+/month. Added on a brisket that weighed less than 2 pounds. Neat.

I like food automatically appearing on my porch once a month. Is there anything else good out there?

We've been very happy with Hello Fresh. It's really allowed us to open up our meals and eat lots of different things. We're also saving money because we used to eat out several nights a week and now we're cooking.

I just want to point out it may be a bad time for a beef subscription.
We did butcher box for a while - ultimately canceling because we felt we were eating too much beef - but that being said - their quality or variety - in 2018 - was never a problem.

Fish Fixe looks so great and obviously, it's Aggie (Soccer Player) owned and operated.

I think it just depends on where you live, what's available, and how much you enjoy cooking. For example, I make frequent trips to Corpus (Paul's) and have easy access to Groomers not to mention an endless supply of Redfish, Drum, and Trout so there is zero value in Fish Fixe to me. If I was in Lubbock, I'd probably be effusively praising them.

I also have 2 meat markets, a farmers market, plus HEB in NB. I can't imagine being excited about a box on the porch because I want the freshest and best ingredients that I can find and don't mind walking in a store to make that happen.

From a cost per pound perspective, none of the subscriptions are going to be a good value. It's really just a matter of what convenience is worth to you or are you rural/more isolated and don't have good access to quality meats and seafood

Fish Fixe is the only one I've stuck with. I used to order from Crowd Cow, Butcher Box, Porter Road, but seems they've all tried to go to a subscription method and I've found the quality really isn't better than HEB and the price is substantially higher. I'll occasionally still do Porter Road if I have a discount code but will still only do a one time order, not signing up with any subscriptions with them.

Eastern Standard Provisions makes some bomb soft pretzels that are fun to use during football parties!

Consider finding a local farm producer and you may be able to get a monthly delivery set up with a nice variety. Believe you can search through the key term CSA for Community Supported Agriculture. We joined one a year and a half or so back and really liked it. Unfortunately they discontinued the once/month delivery at the level we were purchasing. I know they're still selling e-commerce though, just not sure if the monthly delivery was too much work for them, memberships were down, or if the juice wasn't worth the squeeze with cost of business.

HEB has consistently had the best beef I've come across for a while now.

For beef, I buy packers from Costco and cut my own.

Fish, is more of an impulse buy when I goto Costco, while foods, central market and something catches my eye

To be fair, as far as price goes, HEB has been taking a bath on meat for the last year plus.

Just a heads up, nothing you get from butcher box will look like what they advertise. I finally cancelled. I don't have great access to good meat so I tried them but got fed up with getting boxes that weren't packed cold enough so there was a pool of blood in the bottom, or frozen so hard that the packages rubbed together and tore open. Also go tired of think gray steaks.
