Just curious what those that have the ceramic smokers prefer in XL lump charcoal. I use the KJ brand but wondering if I'm missing out on something better. Maybe a better question for the Outdoors board but I rarely venture over there. Thanks for any responses.

Been using jealous devil for a few years. Can't imagine anything better.

Royal oak. I load up from HEB when they have it.

Been thinking about Jealous Devil. May give it a try. Have you tried the KJ brand for comparison?

I use Royal Oak. I don't notice a difference between that and more expensive brands.

I've used Fogo, Royal oak, and BGE brand and to me not a giant diff between them. The B&b I tried once didn't have great results- hard to light and just remember it having an off smell or flavor or something that put me off that brand.

I've used BGE, KJ, fogo, not sure I notice much of a difference except for size, KJ or the premium fogo usually larger.

No. Tried B&b lump, royal oak lump, heb lump, and kingsford briquettes. I'm sure fogo and the other premium lumps are pretty similar. The jealous devil is consistent and a very dense hardwood charcoal. Not sure what else could make it better.

Fogo or jealous devil. Usually buy from Amazon, but found that ace/elliots carries it as well.

Fogo Black most of the time. I used the yellow one time they had it at my local store. I preferred the yellow but am happy with the black.

I had a bag of Rockwood that I hated. Pain in the butt to lite. It was either huge planks or small pieces that looked like it had been run-over.

HEB/Central Market Oak and Royal Oak are my go to for daily/weekly use. Occasionally I'll go to an Ace Hardware and have them order several bags of Wicked Good Weekend Warrior. Large chunks that seem to last awhile.

Throw me in the Royal Oak group as well. Best performance for the price in my experience. I believe they actually also make the BGE and KJ lump as well - it's just better screened (supposedly) and of course the label.

I bought mine at the local feed store. It's lump charcoal and 20 bucks for a 40lb bag. Otherwise I buy whatever has a hole in it at Home Depot or Lowe's and asked for 40% off.

For the price, it's hard to beat either B&B or Central Market.

If you don't care about price, I've heard great things about Jealous Devil; as many here have said.
