Hey everyone,

Any help or tips appreciated.

Am looking for any tips or thoughts on do's and don'ts for someone new to pellet smokers.

They're about as dummy proof at smoking as it gets. Not much you can do to mess up anything, unless you're enjoying drinking so much with all that time you'd normally be tending a fire that you pass out and forget to turn it off.

You probably won't get any Pro tips......pellet grills are for Amateurs

Buy a Memphis....you'll never need to buy another.

I have a Memphis too and have been impressed.

My tip is to use stick burner for initial smoke flavor (2-4 hours) and pellet to complete cooking. Get the best of both worlds - flavor and simplicity.

Yep, that's perfect.

We sell Memphis, Twin Eagles, and Yoder. I've been most impressed with Yoder.

150-600+ temperature range
WiFi controller
Heavy black steel
Two piece diffuser allows East burnpot access and awesome searing.
Good smoke and super easy to use.
Great design on standard cart, competition cart, and as a built in.

Brisket from Sunday
Hanger steaks from couple weeks ago.

Keep the pellets bone dry.

The biggest pitfall is buying one instead of a BGE/Kamado Joe

I too am a non-owner and wondering what a stick burner is.

Here's Aaron Franklins brand of stick burner aka offset smoker.

Use quality pellets instead of pellets with filler (ie most Traeger). Pitboss competition blend is my usual choice.

I'll add that pit boss brand pellets are usually less than half the cost of Traeger brand pellets as well.

Thank you for the helpful tips folks.

Personally this will be used more for easy smoke/grill applications when i get off work and want to make something on demand. I have a Pit Barrel Cooker I can use for actual smoking if I have time. This will be nice and easy way to avoid gas grill or charcoal grill.

Lumberjack pellets and bear mountain pellets are also supposed to be better than traegar pellets

I love my Weber SmokeFire. I wish I had gotten the bigger size though. I do notice a difference between Weber pellets and others. Pit Boss pellets don't feed as well.

Based on what you said here....I would take a good long hard look at the Recteq Bullseye. They've instantly sold out everytime they get a new batch of them in (going on 4th batch now I think) so a bit hard to purchase right now....but demand will eventually slow down.

It's esentially a pellet grill that can also smoke if you want to. Only small form factor pellet grill that will get up over 750 that I know of.

Curious about your opinion on Pitts & Spitts. I bought one recently after reading a lot of reviews and have been really impressed with it.

We sold them for a short time.

Well built. Local to Houston obviously. Hopper is too big in my opinion and WiFi was an add on. Don't like design near as much as the Yoder even in the standard cart model. Controller not as good as Yoder.

All in all it's a good pellet grill. Much better than any of the cheaper Chinese models like rectec, green mountain, traeger, camp chef, pit boss, etc.....

In line with Yoder, outlaw, etc.

How do you compare Memphis vs Yoder?
