Building a house and looking at Viking, Thermador, Wolf ranges, among others. Anyone have experience with the griddle option on their range? We do use a griddle periodically but trying to decide to give up burners or just use a counter top griddle.

Thank you.

Ah...he's asking about the type you put on top of an indoor range, not a flat top propane grill

Yes. Didn't explain it very well. Trying to decide whether or not to get griddle with a new gas stove. I suppose it's a function of how much I'll use it.

Anyone with one glad they have it?

I have one on my 48" range. If I had a do-over I would have gone with the double width griddle. I can't recall a time I've ever needed more than 4 burners at once, but, the griddle is money. We use it all the time even with the Blackstone on the porch.

Wolf 48 inch dual fuel range. 6 burners/griddle on top. Very happy with range. Do not use the griddle very much, but I do like having two ovens (use the small one more often), but I do like the pizza stone setting on the big oven. Although I don't use the griddle much, I don't think 8 burners or grill would be better options and the french top wasn't something I was familiar with. I would imagine most people who get a 48 inch range go with 6 burners and griddle option. I use a Staub grill pan when I want to grill indoors.

I have one on a 48". If you are going 48 or greater I would include one for sure (probably a 24"). Mainly because I would never use more than 6 burners (and realistically not more than 4).

We have a 24", it was a must for me. Can be a pain to clean sometimes but otherwise it has been great.

i wish they would make a grease tray that fits into the slot where the drain hole is (mine is like Fido's). would be a hell of a lot easier to clean than letting it drain into the tray below. maybe there is a trick i'm not aware of.

I stick a paper towel in the hole to block it and absorb grease and then just pull it when done.

i typically make a little foil tray to sit in there. though lining that w/ a paper towel would help in the removal so maybe i'll try that.

seems like an accessory that would be worth while.

they also need to drill a few holes in the bottom of the metal liner holders so you can stick a finger under and pop them out. kind of a B to get them out by trying to grip the little lips.
