Has anyone tried their selection. I Remember passing their location all the time off of 281 but never went into their tasting room.

I just picked up a bottle of their original Bourbon and can't wait to try it.

It was about $70 here on post in Fort Bragg so I hope it was worth it.

It is extremely difficult to find small business spirits because of the state laws here in North Carolina. All liquor stores are state run!

Tried it, temper your expectations at the price point.

I can't stand that stuff. I wouldn't buy it if it were $20/bottle much less $70. Tastes like someone accidentally dumped a bunch of ****ing charcoal into their mixture when making it.

Go buy a can of corn for $1.00. Open it up and drink the juice out of it. Same thing as Garrison Bros.
All kidding aside. Everyone's palate is different so you might enjoy it. I didn't at all.

What mike89 said. Fermented corn water with some charcoal aftertaste thrown in.

What is the best Texas made Whiskey?

Whitmeyers in my opinion.

TX blended or Balcones.

Not a lot to write home about here in TX on the whiskey front though.

This. Whitmeyer's makes some good stuff.

It may be the worst bourbon per dollar on the earth.

Agree that TX blended is very good. Not a true Texas whiskey, as they buy the four types and blend it here. But one of my favorites.

Tried their new TX bourbon and, while far better than garrison IMHO, it is also not worth the price or anything special.

This.

I still have half a bottle that I:
a) Let other people try and get their opinion
b) Mix with coke after I've already had a lot to drink
c) Stare at as a reminder not to buy again

I saw that their "Cowboy Bourbon" is supposedly much better. Upon seeing it at a store, behind the counter and listed at $299, I asked the guy if he ever sells any, he simply said "no, it's too high."

It's been years since I've had it but I remember thinking it was not smooth at all. Luckily Southern Star's Burried Hatchet Stout ages extremely well in their whiskey barrels so at least there's that.

I can't let a Garrison's post sneak by without chiming in how bad it is. Fermented corn water is pretty accurate.

Seems the only people I've met that liked Garrison's were lumbersexuals who think pretending to like bourbon will compensate for being a girlyman. Also usually wearing a fleece vest from REI, and will ask if you've ever tried Angel's Envy.

Just my experience, FWIW.

This is pretty funny. Although, I do actually like Angel's Envy, but Garrison's...no.

Not a dig on Angel's Envy; I've never tried it.

When I first got into bourbon, I was buying every different brand I could find. Always chasing that one great bourbon that nobody knew about yet. After about 8 or 9 years of that, I stopped buying into all the marketing gimmicks and deception that has taken over the shelves at Spec's. I've got just a few brands that I am sticking with from here out.

Horrible juice.

The best Texas bourbons I've had are:

TX Bourbon (noted earlier)
Texas Bourbon - Rio Brazos Distillery (in CS, no less)
Small Batch Texas Bourbon - Fire Oak Distillery (Liberty Hill)

Other crappy Texas bourbons I've had include:
Bone Bourbon
Red Handed - Treaty Oak Distillery
1835 Bourbon
