I just noticed a Goody Goody is being opened near my house at Woodway and Voss. I've only got experience with Specs as a major liquor store. How does Goody Goody stack up to Specs?

if you are comparing it to a "signature" specs, then edwards is right.

However compared to the Specs by me Goody Goody blows both out of the water.

Goody Goody is going to be cheaper, but they will not get the one time offerings that Specs does (Pappy, BTAC, etc).

And other than the guy who I'm pretty sure was a bartender at Mad Hatters when I was in school (works at Specs), the people at GG actually have an idea of what they are talking about.

The goody up here in dfw rival any specs. They are good.

The Goody Good in Copperfield(Houston) has a more extensive selection of bourbon than most if not all of the Specs that I've been in.

Not been to a GG but a big complaint about the neighborhood Specs are the workers that don't know a thing. They have the couple items that they are told to push but beyond that their qualification is that they like to drink. I kind of think they are there for the employee discount.

The Goody-Goody at Highway 6 and Westheimer will just about rival any Spec's in town, and absolutely gets BTAC, Pappy and several of the other one time offering bourbons. I don't think they are nearly as into the bourbon market on the one time offerings as Specs or some of the smaller stores in town are, but they aren't cut out of the game either.

I got my Stagg bottle last year from that Goody-Goody's, and their high end cabinet has some pretty unique bottles available.

Interesting....must be more location vs brand specific.

There is a huge difference between the regular specs stores and the signature ones.

I've found GG to be pretty meh. I've generally had positive experiences with neighborhood Specs stores, but absolutely love to wonder through the Midtown store
