Tequila needs some love around here.

This is what I've been drinking lately:

A little on the sweeter side, but pairs well with some smoked pork butt tacos, homemade tomatillo salsa, and a good cigar.

Tequila and tex mex anyone?

I'll play. My sister brought me back a bottle of Hotel California Anejo from Baja Mexico a few years back that was pretty spectacular.

Also, a Mexican that I trust told me that his favorite is Cazadores. I've tried both the anejo and reposado and enjoy them both. I love a good tequila with a cigar, but I haven't strayed too much from the mainstream stuff like 1800 and Cazadores. Looking forward to getting some good recommendations from this thread, although I'll probably have a hard time finding them here in WV.

Toro de Lidia's anejo is a pretty good tequila for margaritas and the like. It's around the price point of Cuervo, but vastly superior.

It's what I use as a stock tequila at home.

I've been buying cazadores. Really good in a margaritas or by itself.

I drink a lot of tequila at my house and don't ever buy the same bottle more than a couple of times, just because there are so many good tequilas out there. I buy more reposados than anything else, and some of my favorites over the years have been: Chinaco, Partida, Dulce Vida, Republic (Texas Bottle), and Z Tequila.

My favorite inexpensive bottle or everyday tequila for margs is probably El Jimador. It has never let me down and doing taste tests with bottles that cost twice as much the Jimador is just as good. I am finishing up a bottle of Olmeca Altos reposado this weekend, and it has been a really good bottle and will make my rotation during Twins $ sale.

Dang it fellas, now I'm ready for a drink!

Best tequila I've ever had was Cuervo Platino. Smooth, as in zero burn and tasted great. It was clear and came in a long skinny bottle.

Cracked open a bottle of Corazon I have that was finished in a Rip Van Winkle bourbon barrel and I like it a lot. Finishing in that bourbon barrel brings out some different flavors. Got a Corazon that's finished in a Stagg barrel but I haven't cracked it open yet. I've read some reviews which said that the Stagg overpowers the tequila in this one. I'll have to crack it open and try it.

We spent a couple of days in Jalisco last month with some friends that produce agave for several tequila brands. We tasted a lot of tequila there and the best that we had (based on price vs. taste) included Los Altos Reposada and one of my old favs, Pueblo Viejo. We also had some Don Ramon Anejo and it was outstanding.

Stopped by my liquor store tonight to pick up tequila for some margs this weekend and ended up with a bottle that I have never seen or heard of, Tequila Hacienda De Tepa reposado. The price was really low ($12.99 for a liter) so I asked my girl about it and she said that is the price for now until they can find an audience for it. She said the boss will probably have it at $18-$20 once established. At that price I bought 2 bottles thinking 100% agave aged 6 months in oak barrels can't be that bad. So far the wife and I are on our second batch and it is really tasty. Light straw color, nice sweet nose, with some spice at the end of the sip. Pleasantly surprised and happy that a quality reposado can be had at such a good price. Sending a buddy there tomorrow to buy a couple of more bottles. At that price point I can make margs all summer. I will try and add a picture later.

Have a great weekend fellas!

My favorite since a trip to Cabo 5 years ago has been Esperanto, but only available on Mexico. After bringing two bottles back in April from another trip, I went to Specs to find it on the shelf...on sale. Bittersweet as I am excited to not have to ration it out quite so sparsely, but it does kill some of the excitement/special occasion feeling now that I know I can run down the street for more. And I'll 2nd Chinaco as another good tequila.

Milagro silver for my margaritas.

Has anyone tried Ambhar? I like it. Very smooth for a tequila.

Summertime means tequila time at my house. Let's get this thread back to the front. The wife has really been on a tequila kick lately, so lot's of tequila, soda, lime with various fruit for her. I typically muddle the fruit, mix tequila and soda, strain over ice and add a slice of lime. Hey, whatever it takes! I've still been buying the Hacienda de Tepa because she loves the last of it, and it's a great price. I have lots of other bottles right now, but that Hacienda has found a spot at my house. Hope you guys are beating the heat with a nice tequila drink or just tequila straight up!

Vintage Casa Noble in the ceramic bottles has been my favorite sipping tequila. Repasado and Anejo.

My go to is Corralejo Reposado (very tall blue bottle). Best in the $30/bottle price range. And doesn't give me hangovers like most of the others. Great earthy flavor with a little sweetness. Don Julio Anejo, and Herradura Double Barrel Reserve, and then the DJ 1942.
