Anyone done a proper job of duplicating it?

3/4 cup Mayo
1/4 cup Ketchup
5 tsp Worcestershire
1/2 tap Garlic powder
1 tsp Paprika
1/4 tsp Salt
Lots of pepper

Mix and let sit over night

Edited to add proportions and garlic powder. I got this recipe from Texags (maybe fido?), so I can't take credit for it.

OK, for real? No crack in it?

No crack and the best part is that if you make it yourself you don't have to dip Layne's crappy tenders in it.

I cooked some tenders and dip once for a tailgate party. One girl in our group picked up some Layne's anyway because it was her pre-game 'tradition'. It was fun watching her internal struggle as she was forced to admit the truth when comparing side to side.

Popeyes, church's, or hartz chicken tenders work very well with homemade cane's sauce.

Care to share your chicken tender recipe, as well?

you must have a better canes then I do. The canes by my apartment uses those nasty frozen triple breaded tenders.

And the laynes sauce is > > > > > > > > > > > > than canes...even if it was "borrowed" from canes then modified.

Thanks, you're a legend. I'm going to try to whip some up later. The only tenders (unless I make them myself) in this godforsaken hometown of mine are Chicken E. I'm hoping Chicken E tenders go well with Layne's sauce.

I make seasoned flour in big batches and keep it handy for anything and everything fried. The ratio is 1 cup of self-rising flour, 1 Tbls fresh ground pepper, 1 Tbls salt (fine grain sea salt is preferred), 2 paprika, 1 tsp ea. cayenne and accent.

For a recipe of tenders I usually need 2-3 cups flour.

I prefer to slice chicken breasts into strips, but, if you use tenders remove the tendon with a pairing knife.

I make my chicken marinade by mixing a 12oz American Pilsner with a cup of seasoned flour + 1 extra Tbls salt. Then add a cup of Borden brand buttermilk and 1/4c Franks hot sauce.

Marinate the chicken strips 24 hrs.

When you are ready to fry, remove from the batter and dredge in seasoned flour. (I usually wear Nitrile gloves) Shake off excess and deep fry in 350 degree peanut oil.

Chipotle, do you expect me to just sit here and read someone type insulting things about Layne's?

Chipotle is right. Cane's > Layne's

What's the Cane's sauce recipe? Oh wait, no one ever asks for that ****.

I honestly haven't eaten Cane's yet, so I can't judge....but, I have a feeling this will end up a lot like that time someone told me "try Chipotle, it's waaaaaayyyy better than Freebirds."

pssshhh.

cane's is absolutely better.

but, i will say in most cases whichever one you had first is probably the one you think is better.

but, seriously, cane's is easily better.
Quinn

Layne's is absolutely better. It's science.

If better=little chunks of overfried batter with a little piece of dried up chicken in there, than sure Layne's is better. Not a huge fan of Cane's either but they are better, unless every single time I went to Layne's was a really bad "off day" for them.

I just wanted to present something that is opinion as an absolute fact like other people in the thread. I actually like both, but Layne's is cheaper and I like their sauce, toast, and fries better. Chicken was about the same to me from both. Layne's I never knew how many I was going to get - could have been 4 small, crappy pieces, could have been 7 huge pieces of chicken.

agreed; those people are morons. fortunately, my post transcends both science and opinion...more of an eternal truth.

Damn, didn't know you were speaking eternal truths. I can't get either in NYC anyways, so I guess I will stick with my homemade Layne's sauce unless someone wants to offer up a Cane's sauce recipe?

Schmendeler, take that back or we're through.

Made the Layne's sauce and it is pretty much spot on. Seems wrong to eat it with Chicken E tenders, but that's my only option. Thanks again for the recipe!

I always considered them different things. A craving for Freebirds wasn't the same thing as a craving for Chipotle.

Just made this and need to let sit over night. Initial taste test is it's not bad.

It's actually really close. I added a bit of Heinz 57 to cut the overly mayonnaise taste. It helped. I've made this before and a dash of Heinz chili sauce can have the same effect
