I work in catering and we have a group coming in from Japan and they want a quote on two different Japanese beers and two different Japanese Sakes but they did not give any brand suggestions.

What are your favorites? I have never been to Japan so I have absolutely no expertise on this subject.

Beer, the only three I have had and I would list them in this order, but all are good in my opinion

1. Sapporo
2. Asahi
3. Kirin Ichiban

for sake I like the cold unfiltered type. I always drink Sho Chiku Bai Nigori. All the Nigoirs i've had have been good. I have had the warm sake but dont remember the name or brand.

I'm a big fan on nigori sake. That's the unfiltered sake. Great stuff

Sweet potato shochu with hot water and a slice of sweet potato.

Shochu isn't sake. :/

You could always get Habu Sake (technically I think it is Awamori, since it is from Okinawa prefecture...but whatever)



Don't drink beer, but my dad does and he likes Kirin or Orion (though I don't know you can get that one in the states).

FWIW, lived in Japan for 10 years.
