Crock pot Pork Butt recipe

Done this with pork tenderloin.
Brown butt in separate pan in oil
Put in crockpot with Small bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce
2 Large diced bell peppers, different colors if want
Large onion large diced
Can of Dole pineapple tidbits, around 15 oz
4 diced garlic toes
Low for 6-7 hours

Made a rub consisting of the following:
-Salt
-Garlic Powder
-Onion Powder
-Cayenne
-Cumin
-Lemon Pepper

Rubbed the Butt generously and let sit in the fridge overnight.

Put in in the crock pot in the morning, poured about 12 oz of Dr. Pepper and about 4 oz of Grape Juice (not sure why I used Grape juice, I guess just for fun).

Cooked on low for 7.5 hours.

Removed from crock pot. Split the pork (which was falling apart) into two containers. Mixed in some Mustard-based BBQ sauce in one bowl, and a more traditional BBQ sauce in another.

Excellent. I'll have pulled pork for days.

You can make the same recipe with a pork butt.

I did DRE06's yesterday, kinda.

Pork Butt into crock pot. Added spices, Worschester, and Diet Dr Pepper.

Cooked on High for 2 hours then low for 5 hours. Drained the juices and shred the pork adding a little bit more of the spices and DDP. Tossed with Stubbs Mequite BBQ Sauce.

Delicious and easy. I usually do my pulled pork on the smoker. Yes it is better that way, but for a good weekday easy meal, this is the way to go.
Satisfied our BBQ hunger for a few days.

Total Cost....$14. Fed six.

I used a rub on a pork butt on Monday night, wife got admitted to have our kid on Tuesday and we will be home today. So basically it has been marinating for four days. Do you think I should throw it out and start over?

AgFB, I think if it's been in the fridge it'll be fine.

goags, when it's cooked in a crock pot like that it's very "soft". You just pull it apart using two forks.

Technically you are supposed to pull it apart with your hands. I bought two plastic claws that were designed to hold meat with, that I use to shred the pork

Spread yellow mustard on a pork butt then covered it with a rub of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, brown sugar, cumin, ancho chili powder, cayenne pepper and S&P. Wrapped in plastic wrap and sitting in the fridge overnight. Going in the crockpot around 8:00 tomorrow on a bed of thick sliced onions and a couple of cups of DDP (only because recommended here). Will remove around 5:00, drain the crockpot, pull the pork, add a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's and cook for another hour (and add some cider vinegar if too sweet).

I have a pork loin in the fridge for tomorrow

I seared it tonight with s&p and uncle Chris steak seasoning and garlic

1/2 onion at the bottom of the crockpot, pork, baby new potatoes, other pork, other half of onion and a few more potatoes

Plan on poring a DP on it tomorrow morning on low, shredding it when I get home, take onions out, strain juices, add BBQ sauce for another hour

Serve on some delicious looking rolls


I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes

Your adding brown sugar to the recipe, but you are still using Diet Dr Pepper? Why? Im a little confused....
