I would like to see Ukraine install this active protection system against incoming threats to see how effective it is. Would it be a good investment and is it a Revolution In Military Affairs. It follows the principle of a shotgun blast but of greater magnitude. Trophy

The problem with mounting it on the Abrams is that the tanks charging system is maxed out and does not have the capacity to add more electricity drawing items to its network.

No doubt it would work, but what are you willing to give up to add this on the tank?

They have been installing the systems on M1A2s. .

I can already see myself in the Bradley trying to use this.

Electronics give out, because why not, now I'm in manual override with my gunner cranking the hull left and right to take out enemy fighting positions. What good is this system after one enemy rpg is taken out? I imagine drawing lots of enemy fire in my Bradley and needing more than defensive round.

Thats a hell of an explosion on the actual Brad. If I'm TCing out the hatch, looks like I'll be cooked!

It's not a one and done system. Besides manual override, let's make the situation worse like it has thrown a track too. Obviously, the US Army thinks the pros of the Trophy System outweighs the cons.

Speaking of the Bradley. Go watch Pentagon Wars.

Just because the Army thinks it's a good idea, doesn't necessarily mean it shouldn't be scrutinized.

The Ukes love the Bradleys, and the US is going to give Ukraine more of them. Bradley

Probably removing the CROWS and using those amps for the TROPHY system. The Abrams is maxed out in the M1A3 variant and there is no way to add a second generator to the engine. Sometimes more is not more, but less. The old M1A1 Heavy Common was so damn reliable. Those who never had the joy of tanking in one just don't realize how good of a tank it was. Nothing against the A2 SEP, but it would let you down when the turret systems got too hot, which happened all the time at Hood. The A/C system is another big POS on the SEPs too.

Know anything about the next generation US tank? I just googled the AbramX. Didn't really read much about it beyond the basic highlights. Any thoughts? Or know of any other company researching/developing anything?

Also, I think it's interesting. Wasn't that long ago people were saying tanks have no place on the modern battlefield. Which may be true against some enemies. However just look at Ukraine/Russia, or Gaza/Israel. Not sure what it would look like on Chinese soil.

They're calling it the M1A3, but I think that's just a way of sliding it by Congress without calling it a whole new tank. Kind of like the Navy did with the Super Hornet.

But apparently new hull, new turret, new powertrain, autoloader, and 60 tons or less. (Weight - 75 or so tons - was getting to be a severe problem with the upgraded M1A2 SEP-whatever). Sounds like a whole new tank to me
