Headed to visit my son in Charleston this weekend. He is stationed at the joint AF/Naval base there studying as a nuke.

Any suggestions for must sees/do in Charleston for a dad/son? We are going to go see the Carrier there and the old Fort, but not sure what else to see.

Good recs for good food joints?

I will not be able to answer your queries because I visited Charleston with my kids who were young. We went to the aquarium and took a ghost ride. I really enjoyed the city. It is pedestrian friendly, and it seemed every block had wonderful and different smells coming from the restaurants.

Husk is always worth a stop, poogan's Porch for brunch and some of the best fried chicken I've had

If he lives more out by base, go to Holy City Brewing
Paddock & Whiskey is another good stop that way

Lewis BBQ is pretty legit. More for him if he's missing Texas style BBQ out east

at least drive around the campus.. I did some research at their library which has amazing paintings and artifacts of the US Army through it's history

of course PATRIOTS POINT which is Yorktown and Fort Sumter tour

I took my parents there a few months ago we went out to a legit southern plantation outside the city:

Boone Hall
