I am a CPT in the Active Army potentially interested in transitioning to the Air Force (in a Guard or Reserve capacity) at the end of my active duty time. I am a rated rotary wing aviator, although not currently on flying status (I'm assuming I would have to compete as a candidate to go to UPT). If there are any Ags out here flying for the guard or reserve and wouldn't mind fielding some questions please let me know!

Since you are an army helo guy not navy you'd have to go to UPT. However, lots of part time flying units hire army helo guys.

If you're interested in that route, what general area are you located in?

I'm currently located in NC, but willing to relocate if necessary. Would love to be in CO but understand that's probably a popular state. I'm still a few years from being eligible to get out, but wanting to start networking/getting my ducks in a row now. I'll probably be just on the cusp of the age limit and also on the high end of total active federal service.

Transitioning to 135s is your best bet just based on number of units if you go that route. I went to UPT with several Majors including an army Blackhawk going to the 135. I don't know a CO unit off the top of my head but there's a 135 unit in Salt Lake.

Seymour Johnson has a reserve KC46 squadron but that's probably a little more competitive since it's new and shiny still.

ETA there's a 130 unit in C Springs but it's pretty hard to rush from what I've heard.

Trident, one of my buddies just got picked up to go fly C-130s for the Air Guard unit in Fort Worth. He is currently flying 64s in the Houston guard unit. Happy to get you in contact with him to discuss what he did.

That would be awesome. Thank you!
Edit: just realized I don't have PM capability through TexAgs at the moment to pass on my contact info
