Near Bend, TX and the Colorado River. I'm assuming they're coming out of Ft Hood. They were definitely lower than the hilltops and bluffs around us. Sounded amazing echoing throughout the area.

I've got a civilian Chinook that's flown over my house in Los Angeles a couple times in the past few weeks.

It's loud enough to make me run outside to see what's up.

I wonder how much a civilian Chinook costs.

I didn't find a price on it but I now know why I've been seeing it so much lately and will continue to see it.

Looking further, it looks like it might cost about $32M.

But, the good news is, it contracts out for over $2M/day during fire season.

Also, during the past week, I've had several groups of USMC helicopters flyover my house.

I don't know anything about Marine Aviation but they appeared to be CH-53D Sea Stallions flying in groups of 4.

Those helicopters look huge compared to a Blackhawk.

Fire up ADSB exchange dot com, you can often ID aircraft overhead with it. Not all military aircraft will be squawking, but I'd bet those in a crowded airspace like LA would be. I've often seen trainers and transports, but almost never a fighter.

I'll definitely look at that the next time there are a bunch of helicopters flying over my house. So, probably by Saturday.
