I don't know how many on this board are watching this series on PBS, but it is well worth the time. Going back to the mid 1800s French colonization, Burns builds the history that led the U.S. into the war, and the effects of decisions by politicians and military commanders on both sides had on the conduct of the war. His approach is balanced and includes all sides of this controversial period in our history.
