Fire in the paint locker.

I searched Yahoo and Google and the only thing I came up with was the word Urgent.

Being a firefighter, I can agree that a fire in a paint locker would be an urgent situation. My question is: am I on the right track with my understanding of the term?

Thanks in advance.

Ever see a US warship in port? Nothing but seaman hanging over the side adding another coat of grey and that includes in foreign ports. Gotta store all of that gear and paint somewhere and keeping it confined to one area is much safer than having it stored in rooms all over the ship.

Yes, I've seen the ships being painted.

And it was a very good movie.

My Dad was a diesel mechanic in the Navy in WW II. He was on a transport carrier and a mine sweeper. He talked ad nauseum about scraping and painting in down time. He was on the only carrier to see combat on American soil (Battle of Attu) and was on the sweeper practicing for the invasion of Japan when the war ended.

Not a combat vet - 46. But scraping a deck is the most mindless form of punishment !
