Many a 1950's-60's A&M Cadet outfit had unit beer busts at a remote south Wellborn Road locale well known as..."The Clay Pits".

An isolated old clay quarry with clear waters.

After 60 years they've all but disappeared.
One last remnant may be seen on Google Earth located to the north of Clay Pit Road, Wellborn, Tx:

N longitude 30,29'27,28"...W latitude 96,18'07.54".

I remember the Clay Pits well. My outfit had their first beer bust of year there. Good times had by all.

Had my first almost legal beer sitting on the high bluff at the Clay Pits. Quart bottle...Pearl.

My fish year (1982-1983), Ol'Army Lou - Class of '32, held a pizza and beer party on the quad. Kegs of beer and stacks of pizza.

Ah, the good, ol' times.

I remember the pizza but not the beer.

I'm sort of with RabidCougar on this one - during my fish year (82-83) I remember ol' Army Lou, but don't recall beer or pizza on the quad (although I was a real dumb fish and would sometime forget food - but would NEVER forget free beer).

I do recall going to Bradley Farms out on FM 60 (or University) and drinking beer and, ahem, bonding with the upperclassmen.

And the parties at the Q-huts. (are those still around in some fashion?)
