I have having to fly to an important event in a few weeks and I need to bring my dress uniform to include my stetson. What is the best way to transport it on the plane? Should I just check it in in a suit bag or is there a way to do it carry on?

Find a box that can fit in your suitcase and that your hat can fit in without bending.(if you still have the box your hat came in, use that), or simply lay the hat in your suitcase before you pack anything else. Pack socks, underwear, etc around it in the empty space for padding. As for the suit, there are garment bags specially designed for travel; just remember to hang your stuff up as soon as possible when you get to where you're going.
