Need to plan a nice farewell dinner for my BC and CSM immediately upon redeployment. I am very unfamiliar with the Hood area since I basically dropped my bags off and deployed.

I am being told to head to Salado or Belton and find a restarant to plan this out. About 50 people. Any suggestions so I can hand this off with my early redeployers in MAR?

Cyclone Texas BBQ on the other side of Temple is an awesome place for a H&F. Awesome food, good open quiet space for speaking. It's about 45 min from Hood. The people are easy to deal with, too.

Walburg Biergarten is awesome, too. It's about halfway between Hood and Georgetown (again, about 45 min). Awesome German food and German beer. They have an upstairs banquet room and also an outdoor Biergarten that has a live oom-pah band on Fridays.

Both of those places are worth of a BC/CSM H&F. No matter what, if someone tells you the Deadfish Grill, smack them in their grill. That place is too loud to hear, and you'll pay $20 for a single warmed-over cheeseburger.

If it's after March, a really fun place is a Round Rock Express baseball game. For $20/person, you can rent a banquet room at a game complete with a keg of beer, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, tickets to the game, etc, etc, and they will let your BC throw out the first pitch. Even if you're not a baseball game fan, it's a great family atmosphere complete with a kids playground, etc.

Stagecoach Inn, Salado

EDIT:
Whoops, just read the other comment about Dead Fish. Good place for a family meal, but I can see it might suck for a group/banquet.

Dead Fish Grill on Lake Belton (less formal)

Texas Land and Cattle on Centex Expressway has a back room. Pros and cons on the food and prices but it is close.

The Seoul Garden in Copperas Cove is pretty nice. I think there would be a ton of room for people there at a H&F and the food is good if people like Korean BBQ, etc.

I attended an H&F with my husand @ Dead Fish Grill over the summer. We had close to 250 people. They pretty much let us have the entire outside area. It was covered and we had our own bartender. I thought it was great and we only paid $12.00 a person for the buffet. I would give them a call.
