I didn't think there was an offical tally of sniper kills? I know the guys keep their own records, some more detailed than others. But what would be a method of checking records for sniper kills?

He also punched Jesse Ventura in the mouth (which is totally awesome after you hear him tell why he did it):

Thanks for posting that. I used to like Jesse Ventura because he's crazy and doesn't conform to the mainstream. Now I realize he's not crazy, he's insane.

Whatever the actual number is, he definitely had no shortage of targets to choose from while in Ramadi. Great Soldier who did an outstanding job doing a difficult mission.

12B, is that under the old or new system? I know most sappers don't want to be confused with tread heads and most tankers don't want to do the work needed to be an engineer. Plus the tankers would get lost in the math.

I saw the sniper in question will be at a book signing at Hastings in BCS on the 1/22 (I think).

I might catch some s*** for my next statement, but...it's not that tankers don't want to do the work needed to be an engineer, it's just that they are too damn retarded to do the work of an Engineer!

For the record, I have my reasons for feeling this way, and I will stop saying (and believing) that tankers are retards just as soon as I hear or read a verifiable report that an Engineer either set up a cratering charge in the wrong place or fired a MICLIC to the wrong place and it resulted in an M1 being blown up. If that ever happens, I will stop saying that tankers are retards and will apologize for saying it. Individually, some tankers are okay, but collectively, they are a bunch of retards.

Edit for spelling.

12B,
What's the survival time for an engineer breaching a defended obstacle?

Zip'88, much to my class of '56 Dad's dismay, I was a non-reg. CT'97, it depends on how the breach is being done; manually or mechanicly, mounted or dismounted, etc., but the short answer is Not That Long.

And who's the retard?

I just remember the engineer's teaching demo at IOBC always harping on some incredibly short number of seconds. They all seemed to brag about having a job that if asked to accomplish it would lead to a life expectancy measured in seconds.

As an Infantryman assigned to a Cav squadron I spend my fair share of time ribbing the armor guys but those engineers always seemed a little off their rocker.

And Engineer math is easy, just remember P = plenty and you will be fine.

CT'97, Pfor plenty doesn't always work, especially if you are wanting to save some of what you are blowing up for possible use after the enemy has been removed from the area. It really doesn't work if you are trying to blow up a bridge. Place it in the wrong spot on a well constructed bridge and all P for plenty will do is make a crater in the top of the bridge.
Life Expectancy in combat has nothing to do with me saying tankers are retards. My reasons for collectively calling tankers a bunch of retards are MUCH MORE personal; it all goes back to the evening of 7April,2003 and some DUMBA** tanker Leiutenant going 20 degrees past his right range fan just to "get his kill on" and one of my Soldiers getting killed because of he was a retard!
the "get his kill on" quote came out in the 15-6 investigation that followed the incident.

Edited to respond to bqaggie's post that is a couple down from this post.
quote: "Aggie12B, 1985(?) was a bad year for tankers also. They were shooting their own on the range at Hood."----Further proof that they are retards!

Aggie12B, 1985(?) was a bad year for tankers also. They were shooting their own on the range at Hood.

CT97, back in olden days when we were training to fight the Reds, when planning breaching operations, it was assumed you would lose 50% of your breaching force. I'm just glad we never had to put it to a test.

CT'97, how much of those stories do you think could be explained by the fact that the engineers teaching your IOBC were trying to scare or impresh all the fresh, young impressionable infantry officers?

I never said that we Engineers weren't a little crazy; BUT being crazy and being a retard are completely different animals.
