Does the Corps still do the Bloody Cross unit running competition in the Spring?

I'm more curious who actually took it as a competition.

They still have the bloody cross fundraiser/competition/whatever-Fly Army 97-wants-to-call-it in the spring.

B-Company always took it seriously back in the late 80's....first BQ outfit to win the Corps streamer in '88 (not sure if that's ever been repeated).

Yes it's a competition. H1 has won it like past 5 or 6 years. There are streamers for the guidon for 1-3 place.

There's probably at least a dozen outfits that don't take it seriously at all. There's about a dozen that somewhat take it seriously (they allow you to do stupid stuff as long as you aren't going to fall out), and there are about a dozen that actually try to place, give or take a few here and there. H-1 has won it for at least 7 years, possibly 9. They run sub 18 every year and if they lose anyone, it's no more than 2 folks. I always thought the dressing up was pretty stupid - there have been folks that have basically run it in just an adult diaper or speedo when it coincided with Aggieland Saturday.

For the most part the regiment outfits average the best time.

He told me that his parents could always find him because they just had to find the tall senior cornet player

in d-2 we took it semi-serious (no training specially for it, but we ran it seriously).

the only playing around we did was making our own soundtrack. which corps staff promptly cut it off when N.E.R.D. - lap dance came on

i think they might have actually tried my fish and head yr, but then it really didnt matter. and H-1 usually won.

A-Batt & New World Ag, so 3 months ago, in Beijing, I met up with the guy who was B-Co CO '90. He told me he got an invitation to Brandon's USN retirement. Now that's shocking.

And to the OP, I was going to say that we always took it seriously but... I was B-Co under New World Ag's era. So, he beat me to the punch.

Bigtruckguy3500 is spot on...12-12-12 on how serious they take it. This year H-1 is falling to second. D-1 will win it...hands down. Hooah!

Funny. I was a Guidon Candidate who had to highport that B-Co guidon with 7 streamers. About 3 of those streamers were for Bloody Cross.

To each their own I suppose. I always thought chopping out of bloody cross was setting a poor example and was poor leadership on the part of the CO.

We ran with 50lb rucks when I was a senior, just to prove that we were better than H-1 (who won anyway).

D-1 will derail H-1's stranglehold on it this year...book it.

Bloody Cross was one of my favorite Corps events. I ran All Star for the Wing my head year, and lead the outfit my zip year. Getting a good time on that was better than inspections, march-in scores, or grades.

Of course...back then I could run a 5:05 mile.

The only thing that I remember about the Bloody Cross was that it was a cr*p out run! Nothing more, nothing less...guess they had to associate some sort of social benefit for it to continue being run. All I know is that we ran it a bunch of times and I totally hated it!

I always felt it was pretty much that 12-12-12 ratio. The all male outfits with the rare exception took it very seriously, the integrated outfits had fun but some took it more serious than others (regiment and 1st Brigade outfits), the band outfits just competed with each other, and then there were a few outfits who did one lap outfit humpit and went to the Chicken.
