FOBs didn't exist for the first 6 months I was in Iraq in 2003.

Our unit created Gaines Mills and McHenry in the fall of 2003 and were there until we left in March 2004.

Currently at VBC...for the time being.

Garry Owen 10-11 (4ID)

2003: As part of 1st BDE, 3ID, I was involved in the seizure of Saddam Int'l airport which became the Victory Base Complex. My company stood up FOB Falcon.
2004: As part of 2nd BDE, 1AD, I spent time in the IZ, at VBC, at FOB St Mortars (I mean St Michael), in Sadr city, and in the "triangle of death"--Mahmadiyah, Yusafiyah, Lutafiyah.
2005-2006: Again as part of 2nd BDE, 1AD, I spent most of this deployment at VBC, plus some time at FOB Ramadi.
2008-2009: Yet again as part of 2nd BDE, 1AD, most of this deployment was at FOB Hammer, plus about three months at VBC.

Al Asad, 11/08 - 8/09, but we spent plenty of time at Camp Korean Village, Al Taqaddum and Camp Liberty as well.

a little FOB called Camp Payne 03-04

It was a little dump on the east side of Abu Graib and north of the airport. I was the S-4 and I/we closed out the FOB and handed it over to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. My HMMWV rolled out last on our way back to Kuwait.
