Texas A&M University and the School of Military Sciences is offering a new Minor in Military Studies.

Approved by the Faculty Senate in May, the Minor in Military Studies requires completion of 18 semester credit hours – nine from an approved list of existing university courses with military-related content and nine from an approved list of upper-level courses in the School of Military Sciences.

The minor will be administered by the School of Military Sciences through the Professor of Naval Science (PNS), Professor of Military Science (PMS), and Professor of Aerospace Studies (PAS), in conjunction with the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies.

Not worthless if you are going contract.

Even more worthless if you are going contract. You only need a bachelors, and your degree means squat unless you are going ENG.

Right now at A&M, all your ROTC classes count nothing toward your degree, correct? At least this way you get something for those extra hours.

So does this mean we can retroactively get one?

As far as I know, A&M is the ONLY ROTC program that did not offer a minor in military science.

I'm pretty sure mine counted towards general or elective credits. I know they counted towards my overall hours to graduate.

The freshman and sophomore year credits didn't count towards my major at all when I went through. My junior and senior year credits counted towards half of my "citizenship requirement" as well as my military history class.

Sam Houston State University has a MA in Military History - all on-line. If you use Hazelwood, you only pay for books. I get my diploma on 10December!
