Anybody know?

Did it just disappear like TV station 41-3 GRIT did?

I was bummed. Didn't realize it was gone. AM is all our Ford has and I recently got it going only to find…there isn't crap to hear on AM at all now. What a shame.

Damn that sucks. I listen to AM radio every day. KONO not very often, but it was one of my presets. I got a chance to talk to Steve Sellers once about 10 years ago, and he was saying it's only a matter of time before it dies. It's so much cheaper to just have pre programmed canned music from a distant city that local AM stations have a hard time making it.

My kids Class of '22 and '24 don't even listen to the radio at all. I have memories of tuning into distant AM Clear Channel stations from hundreds, sometimes over a thousand miles away on my little AM radio in my room as a kid. WWL out of New Orleans, WLS in Chicago, WBAP in DFW, and of course WOAI here. About 15 years ago I heard Jim Rome saying he was driving from Vegas to LA and was in the middle of the desert and couldn't pick up any radio, so he flipped the dial to 1200 WOAI (the blowtorch), and he picked it up clear as day all the way into LA.

The left wingers are on a crusade to get rid of AM based conservative talk radio. Ford announced they weren't going to include AM on their car stereos any more. Hard to think the medium itself might die after it's played such a significant role in our culture for over 100 years. Just like 45s, 8 tracks, and cassettes.

BTW, my sister in law is an 8th grade science teacher, and about 8 years ago she told us that her students don't know what a CD is. THAT made me feel old!
