Bolners closed to the public during the pandemic. No plans to reopen?

They are not re opening. They have gone commercial only. Joe Davila, a long time employee, has opened up a similar market including all Bolner's spices in Bergheim in the old Bergheim store.

The spice side of the business was different than the meat market... different brothers. Bobby ran the meat side and Mike ran the spice side if my 1980's memory holds true...

True. The spice operation is over off the I-10 and Poplar area but you could order and pick up from the market on S Flores

Sorry I did not see this before now. Vacation and all that.

Correct - the Bolner Meat Market is now wholesale only. Joe Doria has moved to the Bergheim Market as reported above. He has the full approval of the Meat Market folks.

The original Bolner Market was in downtown San Antonio briefly before the store on Mitchel was built in 1914. The Bolners had 8 children who were raised upstairs there. The dad and four sons owned and operated the business all these years, selling their shares to the remaining brothers as each retired. The son of the youngest brother now operates the business.

The Fiesta spice company is a completely separate part of the family with no common ownership. Clifton Bolner '49 left the meat market to found Fiesta Products in 1955. His dad was one of the original four sons.

The spice challenge is that there were several blends manufactured by Fiesta specifically for the meat market and cannot be sold directly to anyone else. Currently you can ask about any of them you might be looking for via the Fiesta website contact page. Your request will be forwarded to the meat market for their fulfillment, if possible.

Hope this helps.

Italian is going to be hard to find at most stores - with limited shelf space you have to maximize your productivity to keep retailers happy. Its on the website. Also if you PM I can send you one.

This is random but I have been searching for a particular Taco seasoning since we left College Station. They ONLY sold it at the Unversity drive Albertson's and it wasnt Bolners. I think it had a yellow lid? Its flavor was different than "old el paso" and it had more zing than Bolners. A friend from San Angelo turned me on to it 20 years ago and I havent found it since.
