Anyone done this? Have an older house with what looks like shoddy masonry. Looks like someone slathered mortar all over the face of the brick.

Pressure washing it wasn't very efficient. Was thinking maybe hand held belt sander? Or am i just going to have to chisel off all the pieces one by one?

below is a section that i pressure washed, which was entirely too tedious for me to continue.

had considered muriatic acid but not sure what that process looks like as i dont want to damage the integrity of the brick.

Looks like adobe. Also, I thought they were supposed to look like that with the white appearance?

Either way, mechanical removal is about all there is. Maybe a wire wheel with a very light hand would do it but your pressure washing looks cleaner.

Those bricks were made that way no one did that when they installed them.

It does work but I hate using that stuff. Better wear good gloves and try not to breath that stuff.

As others have stated those are probably meant to look that way.

I would try Sure Klean 600 if you are wanting to remove it.

I feel attached to this thread because this is exactly the kind of situation I could find myself in whereby no problem existed but I decided there was one and then I started to fix said problem and later found out it wasn't a problem at all but now I have a much bigger problem because I have to power wash my entire house now.
