Pros / Cons?

Our AC is ****ting the bed and gonna get a new one soon. Trying to figure out what makes the most sense for a 2800 sq foot, single story, with foamed attic.

We got a Daikin Fit a year ago…maybe two. It cut our electric usage in half. The humidity is under control now, and it feels much better in the house. I get cold at 72*. The only negative is that when humidity is high, it will over cool to pull the humidity out. I freeze sometimes when it does that.

My AC guy said ours is on last leg. We bought this house 2 years ago, and the inspection we had showed the 12 year old at the time AC had a Delta T of only 12 degrees, so we made the owners fix it. Come to find out, hes an AC guy and may have just topped it up off the books and generated a report saying its working good.

Fast forward to today's problem and wasn't obvious whether a slow leak bled the system down and we didnt notice till really hot weather came, or if we suddenly sprung a big leak. Either way, our guy used leakstop and filled it up. Said if we decide to let his company install a new unit within 1 month, they will 100% refund today's service. If its up to 6 months, they will refund 50%.

I personally installed an aciq ducted split system in the mil quarters of my son's barn. Built my own line sets, supply and return ducts and plenems.
About 5k for equipment and supplies for 3 ton system. Works fine, I should have just skipped the emergency heat strips, it's the low temp model and it's never been cold enough to need them
