Replace all the cabinets? Paint & reface? They're high quality, albeit very dated. At the end of the day it'll.never not be an 80s build.

Next on the agenda is countertops and floors.

It's all personal preference. I wouldn't change anything, really, except the carpet. If I had a gun to my head to change something, I could make a case for replacing linoleum and maybe painting the paneling just to break up the darkness. My biggest pet peeves with remodels are painting over perfectly good natural wood and using whites and grays.

Depends on your budget.

1. Repainting cabinets can get you really far down the road of modernizing. For a little more you can get them refaced and update the style.
2. Linoleum is durable, but I would replace it. Would go wood or LVP throughout actually including the kitchen
3. New countertops are not very expensive. Be sure to update the backsplashes.
4. Nothing dates a house like paneling, but you can paint that if you are on a tight budget.
5. Consider making an island bar--replace the island itself and make the top overhang and give space for barstools of your choosing.

I don't have anything to add but I'd love to see outside pictures.

New countertops not expensive?! I guess it depends upon what kind.

Since they are good & you are ok with layout, I would replace doors and pulls on cabinets, paint them & paneling. New floors, countertops & backsplash. Appliances as well obviously.

Also highly recommend soft close drawers

Do you like the layout and usability of the space, particularly the current cabinets?
