Been at our house almost three years now and can't seem to go a year without a project….

We have a 2 and 5 year old and they're in the backyard basically 24/7. Set up had zero shade so wanted to fix that. Of course the project then had to include an outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Has taken longer than anticipated, mainly because of weather. We had everything ready to pour concrete and it rained for like 2 weeks straight, so could never get the inspection approval. But getting close. Working with Creekstone Outdoors (poster on here).

Before pictures and renderings

Yes, ventless, natural gas only. Really like wood fire but didn't want to deal with the chimney and being natural gas I'll likely use it 100x more.

What are the overall dimensions of the kitchen ? Thinking about something similar with a smoker, griddle and pizza oven

Having my outdoor kitchen redone next week and went with the Blaze 40" as well. I did move on from the Green Egg and went with the pellet grill (don't hate on me). Good luck with the project!

When do you start to raze all of your neighbor's houses to put in the mountains???

Why concrete those columns in instead of putting them on post mounts? Those will be a huge PITA to replace if anything ever happens to them.

My guess is it saves money on the pad / slab footers to do that way maybe? We installed similar in 2023 and they did post mounts. Sometimes it just depends on the engineer that.provides structural drawings - they all have their opinions.

Not having to deal with a brick chimney going through a roof on a high gable is really smart!--don't ask how I know.

Is there any ventilation for the shallow attic above the cross rafter supports? Probably not much of an issue, but makes me curious...

Just noticed this detail--how is the new slope tying into the existing house siding? I'm hoping there is s small triangle behind that corner to direct water around to the new roof instead of building up behind it. I'm sure they treated that correctly, but you want to be sure about those things.

Yeah, there's the flashing back there. In that picture you can actually see the roofer broke the hardy trim. Contractor made sure that was replaced and all that flashing was done.

Think he's referring to the backside of that 2nd story window. There should be a cricket (or sometimes called a saddle) that redirects water in addition to the new flashing. Typically they're done on the backsides of chimneys, but could be done in this scenario too.

Looks nice! A patio cover like that was one of the best things we did with our current house. Is there going to be a large outdoor fan on the ceiling?

Correct--forgot the term, but the cricket is essential for water management. I would bet the contractor included it, but it is wise to check.

Thank you for your business! Your selections look great by the way.

We embed the posts primarily due to the uplift. Patios aren't necessarily very heavy from a structural perspective but you can imagine a hurricane force wind can rip them off those post bases fairly easily. There are embedded windstorm hold down that you can use but they aren't nearly as strong as an embedded post. Additionally an embedded post provides much more strength against racking at the post to beam connection versus an embedded windstorm hold down. As always, multiple ways to build these things but over the 17 years we have been in business, we believe this is the best.

There most certainly is a cricket and flashing on that side of the ridge that drains towards the 2nd floor wall.

Patio is about 99% complete. Just a couple punch list like items. Did first cook yesterday. It was a bit impromptu, chicken with veggies and lo mein noodles. Doing smash burgers this weekend. Will eventually move the chairs over to one side and get a dining table
