We're planning on DIY'ing a remodel of our kids' bathroom. Looking for a budget-conscious, durable tub to replace our old cast iron tub. We have the alcove style in a (standard) 60" x 30" tub.

Any brands to look at or avoid?
Where to buy?

1. Jauczzi spent the most time/money researching tub types and provide now the longest lasting acrylic tubs BUT
all plumbed for their superior jets, no soakers for which you are shopping BUT top quality acrylic is the material that should be Job#1 when shopping.

2. Beyond that, name brands, buyer reviews may best guide you

We resurfaced ours with Ekopel since removal of the old tub would have been a pain. Plus, I wasn't impressed with what Lowe's/Home Depot had as an alternative. Overall I spent maybe $150 to resurface.

Last time that I looked, Kohler's offering in acrylic and cast iron were not significantly different in price. I'll be replacing the tub in my kid's restroom in the semi near future and had planned on just going with an enameled cast tub again.

Where did you purchase?

I've looked at Ferguson but haven't purchased. Admittedly, I have some better access through my construction contacts.
