Zone 1 of our sprinkler isn't turning off. Wife had to turn off the irrigation valve in the box in our yard to get it to turn off. She noticed setting 1 has been running for 50 minutes, and apparently even it ran as the system switched to the other zones I think..... Which means the pressure would have been very weak on the other zones, unfortunately.

What's the issue here? Something I can easily fix? I do know where the valve box is for zone 1 in the yard. My wife went to look at it and it's full of water, but I'm not sure that's a problem. We just had zone 1 issue fixed about 4 months ago because it wasn't turning on and I'm pretty sure the guy replaced a valve or something.

Would like to avoid another expensive service call if I can....

I had this same issue with an old Toro valve, although at first I thought the wiring for that affected station was shorted inside the controller.

It turned out to be the rubber diaphragm in the valve itself, combined with the solenoid not being fully screwed into the head.

It's a pretty cheap DIY fix.

At least you know where your valve box is. I had to buy one of those 'clicker' devices to find mine, and I still haven't located all of them.

Usually means a bad diaphragm or debris in the valve between it and the housing

as others have said probably bad diaphragm...cheap $5 fix, but you'll have to know where your valves are.
First time it happened for me, I realized I didn't know know where they were. I rented a ($50 rental) "sprinkler valve finder" from Redtail Rentals and found all of them, then made a map of them.

I imagine a a sprinkler company would charge over $100 to fix it, if not $200.

Since that first time it happened on other valves and I was able to go to Lowes and buy the diaphragm and fix within 5 minutes.

Definitely $200 + with the mandatory service call.

Locate the valve and manually open it all the way and then close it. Do this multiple times. That can dislodge any debris or unstick the valve. I had 1 not shutoff before and this fixed it. Took 1 min of work.
