Is my grass dead?

I have a Bermuda lawn (don't ask me what type of Bermuda) and back in late June/early July my water supply company went on stage four restrictions which meant no watering. Why we're the only water district in the state that did is a whole other long story.

So obviously by the end of July all my grass was brown as if it were dormant in the middle of winter. The last couple of weekends we have gotten some good rain, but my yard is still brown and at times has even an almost gray/purpleish color to it especially right after it rains. Is my yard completely gone or is it just staying dormant? It usually goes dormant in October and is fully dormant by early November at the latest.

Anything I need to do to bring it back now or wait until the spring? Or is all hope lost?

I would expect dead. I live on a few acres and naturally have a few areas without irrigation. They've come back incredibly quick with this rain

That's what I feared. Is there any chance in salvaging it next year?

I would still have some hope, I've found Bermuda to be so resilient relative to the st Augustine in our old house

It's REALLY hard to kill bermuda.

Well it looks pretty dead, so ...

I'm hoping it comes back in the spring. I just wasn't sure if there was something I need to be doing now to help it come back like cutting it super short or some kind of fertilizer/treatment or something else. I'm not a lawn guy per se, just water it and mow it and occasionally fertilize.

I'd say no. Mine is the same. It will green up later this fall then die back in the winter months. I've already got a few green spots coming back with the little cooler temps and the sprinkles.

I haven't had any green yet which is what worries me.

All I have is nut grass which per the other thread led me to buy some Empero off Amazon!

I'm assuming you're in the central to northern part of the state to go dormant that early in the fall. It was a tough year after may. I let my TifTuf go in June, just couldn't keep up with watering. I'll keep my reg schedule and hope that in March it will be in full growth again. I use randy lemmons schedule but adjusted by about 2 weeks because I'm south of San Antone.

I'm an hour north of Austin. My timeline for dormancy in the fall is approximate.
