I think its time to replaster my pool. I have thought about going the pebbletec route. Any one gone through the process want to share their thoughts and what I need to think about during the process. I live in the cedar park area.
That's what had to happen for me, they wouldn't put the pebble Tec over the old plaster because of the voids, mine was taken down to the guniteCorps_Ag12 said:
PebbleTec (or its intimidators) are considered by most to be a lifetime finish.
If you do not like the texture of PebbleTec, you can get a polished stone finish. Multiple brands out there (Wet Edge Primera Stone, Hydrazzo, Artic Coast, etc.), again considered a lifetime finish.
Most remodelers are going to want to chip out the perimeter around the tile line, chip out any hollow spots, and put down a bond coat on the existing plaster and then put the new finish down. Instead, I highly recommend removing the old finish in its entirety. I typically have the old finish removed by a water jet machine then the new finish can mechanically bond to the gunite shell when installed.
Just my .02 as a builder in Fort Worth. Also, if you do go with a PebbleTec or Wet Edge (and probably other manufacturers too), I would recommend checking the websites to confirm they are certified installers for that product.
