Issue with SWG or Main Board?

// 16k gallons Salt pool with Spa, Build: Spring of '07 // // InGrd // Plaster-Pebble // Hayward Cartridge C?025 filter // Hayward TriStar SP31215 Main Pump w/ 6060 Booster // Aqualogic panel & SWG // Pentair Legend Cleaner // Test kit: TF100 //

Based on the salt readings on my monitor, last month I had to, or thought I had to, add an unusual amount of salt. But I chalked it up to the unusual number of heavy rains we were experiencing.

Now, we're in a hot, dry period and I'm still getting a "Low Salt' reading on my monitor. So I took some salt readings, two methods, one using test strips, the other the Taylor test drops.

Monitor is reporting 2,300 ppm. My test readings indicate >6,000 ppm.

Side note: this is preventing the system from creating chlorine.

Could it be the SWG, or a fault on the board? Or just what…?

Suggested next steps?

Thanks all

Are the strip test and the Taylor drop test both reading above 6000ppm? I would trust the Taylor drop test over the generator reading and test strips. When was the last time you did a manual test, and what were your readings then?

There should be some kind of sensor (usually a triple sensor) attached to the salt cell. On Jandy systems, this can be replaced separately.

How old is your salt cell ? If its more than 5 years old, you prolly need to replace it anyway - and they generally come with new sensors.

When's the last time you cleaned the titanium plates in the generator? Do they have any build-up on them?

I have a Jandy system and just bought a new cell kit that includes the sensor and tri-plug. You can purchase only the cell but Jandy says to replace the tri-plug as well otherwise the warranty is void.

My salt reading display is always higher than the reading on a water test at the local pool store.

Happened to me in May...couple muriatic baths for the cell later salt readings were normal and I was generating chlorine.
