Anyone have an agent or company to talk to about getting flood insurance?

It's a federal program. Any agent for any insurer should be able to do it.

There is no market to shop. Rates are set based on which hazard zone you fall in

Private flood insurance is actually more available now.....

Nothing saying it has to be a federal program, to my knowledge. It's just never made sense for private providers to get into it as they couldn't be competitive. But the rates being jacked up for people not in floodplains to help pay for those in floodplains has started to change that.....

Do you use a broker for your other insurance? If so, they can compare prices, including FEMA.

it's definitely not just a federal program anymore.

I got private flood insurance through Casey at Goosehead and it was a little bit cheaper than the federal option. Also covered a LOT more so I would highly recommend looking around.
