How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hello everyone,

We are going to be redoing our master bath and cannot come to agreement on what we want to do. The picture attached has an overall dimension of 5' 2" x 9'' 7" for the tub and shower area with the shower taking up a square dimension of 3' 8" x 3' 8".

We first thought of make one larger walk in shower for the whole area but I think we are going to keep a tub in there. It looks to me like we can still increase the shower by rotating the tub 90 degrees since I have 62" of depth to work with and standard tubs are 60" long.

With the big window there I'm not sure going with a bigger shower will look right. So, we are looking for ideas and since I am not very imaginative, I wanted to see if anyone here can present some ideas on what we can do. Having a larger shower would be a plus and is something we both agreed on but just not sure how to pull it off.

I went through an almost identical exercise (9'-4" wide) and was able to get a much bigger shower than what we had, but sacrifice a smidge with our tub size. We also had a window and closed it in. Here's my thread (Link) with a sketch of the space.

I have several sketches of layouts I imagined, but this one worked best. I can try to dig them up and post them if you'd like. I also looked at rotating the tub, but don't think it was a good option to have it tucked into a nook like you're suggesting.

Our shower went from 32"x32"" to 47" by 66". Very happy with the larger shower, though I would say it's a hair on the "too big" side if I had to re-do it.

Thanks Ben! Your remodel was very nice! The first picture you had posted about your original thought to do may very well be what we do. I didn't think to elongate the shower as I have 21" of room before we reach the trim for the bathroom door entrance. Heck, just adding an additional 12" would be great!

Same… turned the tub into a giant walk in shower and the shower stall into a linen closet.

We did a master bath remodel about three years ago. We had a jacuzzi tub like yours. We never used it so got rid of it and made a real big walk-in shower. If you have kids, all you need is one standard tub in the house.

How about a tub in a big walk in shower?

Watching…….

We have a very similar situation with the shower/jacuzzi wall being solid. We wa r the jacuzzi a foot or so longer with shower, then shelves/clothes hamper with the extra couple of feet.
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really
