How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've been wanting to put in a ring doorbell, but I think I have a problem.

My doorbell (which is the old doorbell/intercom type) has not worked since I sheetrocked over the old intercom receiver/speaker in the kitchen about a year ago. I don't see a chime anywhere else in the house. Anyone run into this issue before, or have any guidance?

We have this situation and short of getting maybe an electrician out....Ring battery power doorbell + chime is your best best.

We have it and we are overall very happy with the setup.

I will admit every 2 or 3 months having to charge the battery is not ideal but for now I will take it (I also have 4 battery powered Ring Cameras).

Maybe some day I will fully integrate but not ready to spend money on that at the moment.

You may still have power to the doorbell from a transformer in the attic or (hopefully not) buried in the wall with your intercom unit.

Either way, many of the new Ring doorbells are setup for both battery and wired use. Like other posters have indicated, the wifi chimes work pretty well, just a slight delay as opposed to the old hardwired chime.

Ring battery powered doorbell and chime as recommended above. Battery last for a few months between charges on latest model (gen 4 i think).

Ring battery powered doorbell with chime accessory. Or, if you have Alexa devices, they can also be used as the chime (this is my setup). I have to charge the Ring battery about every 6-8 weeks. I get notifications on Alexa, My Apple watch, and cell phones every time there is a motion detected or someone rings the doorbell.
