Lawn mower not cutting one one side

First, it's not uneven, it's simply not cutting on one side at the last few inches of cutting diameter.

Overlap about one wheel width when going back and forth.
Mower spins clockwise (so left side is going away and right side is coming at me)
The right side of the mower, when on the cut grass side, is leaving the last 2" or so of the grass completely uncut.
The left side, when on the cut grass side, cuts just fine.
Overlap is same when I cut in either direction.

Checked wheels are all at same height.
Mower blade is sharp (even bought a new one)
Deck height is the same all around the deck.
Dive shaft is not bent ( which would I think cause other problems)
Everything is square from everything I have checked/measured

If I overlap 4-6" it will cut, but then I'm turning my 21" mower into a 15" mower.

Not sure what else to do here. Any suggestions?

Weird. Maybe drop right side wheels a notch or two and see if cuts better. Or buy new stuff.

I've had this happen to me before on riding lawn mowers and it always seemed to figure itself out. That being said it sounds like this is a problem you've had for a while. Have you checked underneath your cutting deck to see if there is any sort of buildup from your clippings that could be inhibiting airflow? The upward airflow that the blades create while spinning helps to lift the grass and provide a better cut. Only thing I can think of that could be contributing to the problem outside of what you've already checked. Hope you get it figured out!

I did clean it out a while back but not recently. I'll check that this weekend.

Gas or battery? I have this problem too - with my battery powered EGO mower. I just assumed it didn't have enough umph and do the extended overlap.

Gas, Honda mower. It's 9 years old and been fine all this time but it started doing this late last year.

I cleaned the deck and the problem persists. I tried bagging, back discharge and mulch. The right side is leaving a few inches uncut. It's very annoying.

Twin blade cutting system I assume? Not the biggest fan of that blade, especially for mulching.

Two things I've found with mine. There's actually two channels in the deck on the right side. Make sure to dig the upper one out with a screwdriver or something. Second is I have issues when I mow at a height at the last or second to last height setting. The grass gets a little matted down on your opposite pass it seems and then there's not enough suction to pull it back up into the blade. It's annoying but when I mow that height I have to really shorten the overlap.

I rarely have any issues if I bag, which is annoying.

My yard is bluegrass/rye/fescue

Missing or damaged baffle? If that circular guide or other piece is missing or damaged could that be disrupting the airflow enough to prevent it from standing the grass up enough to get cut?

. I found a parts diagram online and it looks like everything is there.

It's actually not cutting on the right no matter which way I cut so when I go back and forth, it's just double on the right side for each back/forth pass.

It's leaving about 2" uncut in the right side.

You sure the blade isn't upside down? Might be worth flipping it just to see.

. Haha yeah, it only spins in one direction and the sharp side is pointed in the direction of rotation. Also, it's got those flip up airfoil ends

I'm surprised you're having the issue while bagging. Mine will leave the strip when I mulch on a high setting but I don't have near the issues when I bag.

I'd reiterate that there's an upper channel in the deck for the upper blade that gets gunked up very quickly and if you don't clean it regularly it's easy to miss. This channel seems to be important with the airflow in the deck when running. Mine cuts better when I make sure that is very clean.

Sad to say though this is just a known issue with a lot of honda mowers. Only real solution is to cut the max height and then drop it another notch and cut the other direction.
