Does anyone make some protective caps for these types of chairs? I've seen the inserts, but some clear type of hard caps could help protect the patio floor. I'm surprised there's nothing out there yet that I could find.

Just cut to size and gorilla glue them to the bottom. Tear off and replace as needed. They are pretty thick pads, at least 1/8 to 1/4" thick. I use this for all my larger footed furniture in my house. Just find the thickest ones you want, they offer an entire wall of these felt feet covers in all different shapes and sizes in the furniture moving section.

Take a look at these from McMaster-Carr:

Rectangular Caps

Or even these might be re-purposed:

Capacitor Caps

McMaster saved my tail many-a-time when I was tasked with handling some one-off special project for a good customer. It's just amazing what they have in their big yellow book.

I have seen people use these but they are more rubber than hard plastic.

We have tried these (well, similar) and they do not work well and are really ugly.

The best plan is to use gorilla glue and felt pads. May have to re-do every now and then but it works best....

Another option is the powder coaters that advertise about fixing your patio furniture. Just had ours redone and they replaced the foot caps. Assume they have them in stock or know where to get them.

Everyone needs an excuse for a 3d printer, this is a perfect one. Even a $140 CR10 or $200 ender 3v2 can do these

I ended up trying these out and they actually fit pretty well.

Pretty impressed. We bought similar from Bed Bath Beyond and they did not look like that....they did not fit well at all and just looked really bad

Yeah not bad for 1.25 each. Not a completely waterproof fit so beware of any water collecting down in them. Or you could probably use some clear silicone, slide them on and that would keep any dripping water out.
