OK, I know that the price of lumber is up 300% or more, but I had an interesting experience this morning. I needed a few 8' 2x4s to build a sawbuck to cut all the fire wood I now have because of the February ice storm. When I went to my local big box store I found that untreated 2/4s were about $15.00 each, but treated 2x4s were about $13.50. Anyone know why treated lumber is less expensive that untreated lumber? Just curious.

Less demand = lower price. With homebuilding and most other construction using untreated, the demand has remained through the roof.

same Q as above. I bought some in the Denver area a few wks ago, I think they were in the $8 range.

Renovating a house and bought 20 ea 2x4x104 a few months ago at my local Sherman, TX Lowe's for $7.11 on a Monday. On Thursday, I went back to get some other items and discovered the price increased to $7.66 so I bought an additional 50 ea. Two weeks ago, the price was $9.28 on a Friday. The following Monday, they were up to $11.28. It's crazy!!!

Unfortunately didn't return any as I needed all of them...only have about 3 left over that I'll most likely need to finish the job.

It's pretty wild right now. I proved to my wife tonight that in the back of my old suburban I was able to easily fit a semester of my kids college.
