I have an elderly neighbor on a fixed income who has no central heat, and uses a wood stove to keep her home warm, and has an electric heater she keeps in her bedroom. It's a very poorly insulated home, and she really needs another heat source. This is out in Brazos County in an unincorporated area. I was contacted because she had smoke coming into the home and she thinks the chimney is clogged, and her damper on the chimney has come apart and isn't working.

Does anyone have a good contact for a Chimney Sweep or other qualified person? Any idea what this would cost?

I'm going to pay for this myself to help a neighbor out, so I want to be sure that I'm getting good quality work and I also don't know anything about wood stoves and don't feel comfortable trying to DIY. According to her it was installed a number of years ago by Fireplaces Etc.

Thanks in advance.

I do not have a recommendation for BCS area but I would pay extra for a guy who has been in business a while and has certifications / training. Have him also check and clean out dryer vent at same time. People often overlook this and it's as much at risk for fire as your chimney,
