Pool pump whistling sound

How long do you want to ignore this user?
We filled our pool for the first time this week and tonight the pump started making a high pitch whistling sound. Everything I read says that most likely means new bearings are needed. But the pump is literally a week old. I can get them out here Monday but if there's a solution to be had over the weekend that would be awesome.

Anyone got any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More than likely will be the motor bearings

Is it possible there is air in the pipes since you just filled it that might be causing the whistling?

Coming out Monday to check. Not sure what I'm hoping for but I assume since the pump is five days old whatever is wrong will be free to fix.

You'll know if it's the bearings. Will get LOUD.

Ask me how I know...

Motor and pump replaced at the same time?

Bearings usually take a couple years to go out. Make sure they aren't trying to pass off used motors as new.

Thanks. My builder seems to be employed entirely of incompetent jack holes but they actually leave the box and instructions when they put it in.

Pool builder came by today, said he heard the whistling from the driveway and knew something was wrong. Apparently Wednesday is when the repair guy shows up.

The pool looks great so far, but signed contract in December and it still isn't done. And I've had to correct several mistakes along the way.

pool start up is not a simple process. Make sure they stay with you and engaged until you are satisfied.

All I can say is if wasn't working from home full time because of Corona there would have been some big problems IMO.

They tried to build the cabana with the wrong size posts (I paid for an upgrade). So if I hadn't been home and walked out and measured posts they would have put it up and had to tear it down the next day and start over.

Then when the concrete guys came out and asked them if I could see their survey. Of course. The had the wrong one (we had made some changes two months prior). Again if I hadn't been home they would've had to rip up the forms and redo.

The day after they graded the yard we got that giant rain storm. I had been questioning their "drainage" plan all along since their brilliant idea was to run the water up a small rise and put the driveway. Of course it almost flooded my house (it took my wife and I using a push broom and siphons and pump to keep it out of the house. They came the next day and redid the entire grading and added French drains.

Not to mention my brand new pump isnt working properly. The pool has had water for a week now and I still don't have skimmer baskets. My kitchen and entertainment area still isn't done.

This has sucked for months and months. There were stretches were we would have someone working on the pool a day or two every two weeks.

Terrible.

This is why we decided to buy a house with an existing pool. There will be issues to deal with I am sure, but I don't believe they will be to this degree.

Well I'll at least give them credit for today. They showed up and said yeah it shouldn't sound like that, but instead of trying to fix it they're going to give me a brand new pump.

So that was nice.

Then three hours later, the guys showed up to start building my kitchen and I asked to see their plans, and as expected they had the wrong / old one.

This is the third time I've saved them from having to redo damn work.

Sounds like you need a meeting with their supervisor/ the owner.
Obviously they are not communicating the changes down the line.
