New home built last year. We are on a neighborhood well water system. I have the issue where SOME of my faucets have a sulfur smell when initially turned on. It is definitely the water, and not sewer gas from the drain. This affects the same two faucets, one in my guest bath and one in my master bath (the other in my master bath does not have the issue). The smell only lasts a 5-10 seconds then goes away.

We have underground water piping, PEX i'm pretty sure.

Thoughts?

is it just the hot water?

Are you not using those faucets for an extended time between uses?

Cold water.

One is used maybe 1 time per week. The other daily. the smell exists every use.

The faucet used daily is in the master. (Hers). Mine does not have the issue.

I have the same issue in one of my sinks, I thought it was the water but my plumber turned on the faucet to as hot as it would get, then dumped nearly a whole gallon of bleach down the drain. Said it was just toothpaste and stuff causing the smell. It came back about a year later and I did it myself this time. Try it and see if that works. We have pex also.

Oil wells nearby?

Gas wells within ~300 yards.

If I shut the drain or pour water directly into a cup you can smell it. Definitely the water

Do you live in Flint, MI?

I guess I should just sell the house and move.....

put some into a jar a seal it up. then see if you can light it on fire

Seems you are implying it is gas contamination from nearby wells. If that were the case, why would only a couple faucets smell?

Call a water softener company or even a well company and they can come test your water. If it has some sulfur in it (which isnt excessively uncommon with private water wells for small communities) then they can recommend treatment system for your home. Good luck!
