I don't know if they still use them but the Toro (Personal Pace) i had previously had a Tacumesh (sp?) engine that was bulletproof. Had that mower a decade and only changed the oil 4ish times. Always started on the first pull. I'd still have the mower but the rear wheel drive finally went out. Decided to get a Honda mower hoping I'd get at least a decade out of it too.
I still haven't killed the Walmart "Weedeater" mower i bought in 2007. It's light, it pushes easily, i sharpen the blade from time to time, and it starts on the first pull. Ive even changed the oil a couple of times.
I'll add one thing on the Honda's. The HRX series has a variable mulch setting - and with that a 'leaf' setting. Works terrific. This past fall I couldn't believe how easy it was to 'pick up' leaves using my mower. Neighbors are spending cover and filling up a dozen recycle bags with leaves. I'm basically mowing the yard twice and putting everything into 2-3 recycle bags.
