Looking to purchase some playground mulch for a new backyard play area. The spot I am building the set is settled below my sodded yard, and needs to be built up. So mulch it is. Has anyone ever used the stuff Home Depot sells in bulk? It is called Kids Karpet.

I'm not an expert but I had heard read where anything that will retain moisture you don't want, especially if it will be touching wooden supports.

Given that I'd like to think if you have your posts on concrete above grade then you would be ok.

I would wait for other opinions on this but that is my quick $.02

if it holds moisture, wouldn't it be a breeding ground for mosquitoes?

We used rubber mulch on our sons playground set. It was great while he was using the set but was a royal pain to get rid of it when we got rid of the set.

Just remember that rubber mulch is forever.
