The gutters on my house chronically rot out corners and other areas randomly. There is a gap from the backside of the gutter to front side of the wood trim where water gets trapped. Over time rot occurs.

Is there an alternative to a standard gutter?

Do originally installed gutters only last for so long before needing to yanked and replaced.

Are gutters required by code?

I live in Sugarland/Mo City area so on another thread I saw some discussions about installers.

Sounds like they aren't being installed correctly, tucking the gutter behind the drip flashing.
