How long do you want to ignore this user?
A few small hairline cracks just appeared on my ceiling and was wondering if anyone else gets these in the winter? Last winter a few spots along our crown moulding opened up and I recalked them with no problem, but this winter I have a few cracks in my ceiling. Is this brought on by the cold weather or could it be foundation issues / settling?

TIA

Odds are it's the lumber your house is built from contracting due to cold and dry weather.

Same is happening to me in quite a few areas. Annoying for sure

Every last desk at work sounds like it's two seconds from collapsing with all the damn cracking, popping, creaking. Happens whenever the temps drop and our beloved building management sets the perimeter heat to carne asada. Doing any little thing at your desk sounds like you're in an old horror movie on a boat in the bay.

With the 20s we've had lately, I've started hearing it from attic joists above my bedroom. Dry air + heater running = really dry air and wood shrinking. And lizard hands.
