From online research, looks like I need to replace tub bearings, shaft, etc.? Was going to check buddy's for the repair kit/parts. Any advice or hints?

Get it on Amazon. $60 for the shaft/bearings/seals. I just replaced the water pump in our Samsung HE washer. $20 on Amazon. Sears parts was $79. Buddy's doesn't carry Samsung parts.

Thanks Rexter, is it fairly easy? I have found some 'install tools' also sold, are they necessary? They look like something a kid put together with spare parts while dad works in the garage..

You can use pvc pipe and a socket to do the shaft. Some of the reviews I read said you'd be better off with the tool.

Fleen - I have the same same make/model and have replaced the bearings twice in the last couple of years. I guess the first time it wasn't sufficiently sealed/watertight and it needed replacement a year later. Oh well...once you have done it once it is pretty quick, especially if you already have tool. I would go ahead and buy it since makes it easier to press the bearings in and out. The video below is a good tutorial. It shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes or so depending on how much room you have to work with. Good luck.
